Delegations at the World Games

For Special Olympics World Games, Special Olympics Switzerland is allocated a quota to put together its own delegation. For Team Switzerland, it is always an unforgettable experience to participate in the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event and proudly represent Switzerland.

A delegation – or a Team Switzerland – includes a specified number of athletes, coaches, a medical staff, as well as the Head of Delegation and their assistant. Together, they form a strong team that grows together during the 10-month preparation period and the Games themselves.

Team Switzerland Turin 2025

At the last World Games – the World Winter Games Turin 2025 – Switzerland competed with a 68-member delegation:

  • 39 athletes in eight sports
  • 29 coaches and staff members
  • supported by a communication and guest relations crew

The athletes prepared intensively for about a year – with training camps, delegation meetings, and camps.

More than Sport

For the athletes, participation always means much more than competitions:

  • Self-confidence and recognition – they are seen, celebrated, and motivated.
  • Enjoyment of performance and fitness – regular training strengthens body and mind and promotes sustainable development.
  • Cultural exchange – Encounters with athletes from over 100 countries broaden horizons.
  • Ambassadors for Switzerland – they show how sport connects people and what they are capable of.

Participating in the World Winter Games in Italy filled me with great joy, and it was an honor for me to represent Switzerland in Figure Skating.
