Jan van Berkel – successful Swiss triathlete and four-time winner of the Swiss Ironman – has been a dedicated ambassador for our foundation since the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics. During the Special Olympics Run, which took place in Winterthur as part of the anniversary celebrations, Jan ran at the forefront with the Special Olympics athletes. Whenever his professional sports calendar allows, the triathlete visits the athletes in training or stops by an event.
Sport should be accessible to everyone. With the Special Olympics Run, we were able to show that people of different abilities can share the same passion together in the same place. Sport makes people equal.
