Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports movement for people with intellectual disabilities.
Mission
We are committed to ensuring that children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual disabilities experience sustainable mental and physical development through sports, and we promote regular training and competition opportunities in a variety of sports. At our events, they experience appreciation and recognition for their achievements and can share their joy and successes with other athletes, family members, and society. This strengthens their self-esteem, fitness, independence, and courage to try new things.
Vision
Our vision is to create an inclusive world through the power of sport, where people with intellectual disabilities can lead active, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
Special Olympics Switzerland is an independent national foundation represented in the three largest linguistic regions. The foundation’s headquarters are in Ittigen near Bern.
