Swiss participation in the Six-Day Race in Ghent

Cyclists chatting after the competition.

Jan Zenklusen received a special invitation: Special Olympics Europe and Belgium nominated him via Special Olympics Switzerland for the 6-Day Race in Ghent. Preparation began in early November at the UCI Velodrome in Aigle – a place that gives you goosebumps just by entering. Everything was new for Jan. Before these training sessions, he had no experience on the track. But with the coaching of Dan Wieser, he made tremendous progress in a very short time. Corners, line, rhythm – step by step, he gained confidence and speed, until he was finally able to compete in a 1-kilometer time trial in Ghent on November 21. An undeniably unforgettable experience for the young cyclist from Switzerland.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the entire team at Velodrome Aigle for their open-mindedness, generosity, and hospitality. Also to the WCC Sprinter Team, with whom we were allowed to share the track. The highlight: Jan even received his own jersey from them.
