From June 10 to 12, 2026, Sandro Winter, a police officer and delegate of the International Police Association (IPA), attended the LETR European Conference in the Netherlands. Held every two years, the conference brings together Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) leaders from across Europe to share experiences and best practices for supporting Special Olympics.
During the event, Sandro Winter presented the structure and successes of the LETR program in Switzerland to date. He highlighted the progress made in recent years and how the Torch Run has become a unifying element between the police, athletes, and Special Olympics.
The Swiss activities drew significant interest from the international delegations. At the same time, the conference provided valuable inspiration for the program’s further development in Switzerland. In addition to presentations and discussions, the program included joint torch runs with Special Olympics athletes and the opening ceremony of the Dutch Special Olympics Games.
For Sandro Winter, participating was an important opportunity to represent Switzerland internationally, exchange experiences, and bring back new ideas for further expanding the LETR network and the Torch Run in Switzerland.
