Martin Liesch

Growing up in a wine-growing family in Malans, inclusion was an integral part of Martin Liesch’s daily life from an early age: his grandmother ran a home for children with cognitive impairments, and everyone was naturally included.

Today, he lives with his family again in Malans, where he works with his wife, also a doctor, in a small group practice. He is also the medical director of the Grisomed doctors’ network. Previously, he worked for about 20 years in various hospitals, including as co-founder and head of the Stroke Unit at Graubünden Cantonal Hospital. Emergency medicine, especially the pre-clinical area, remains one of his main focuses.

As the association doctor and a trustee of Special Olympics Switzerland, he is passionately committed to health – as an integral part of inclusion in sports.

The encounters with our athletes are characterized by genuine openness and warmth. They show us what inclusion is really about. My goal is for our healthcare system to be an inclusive healthcare system one day.
