Tranquillo Barnetta

Tranquillo Barnetta has been an ambassador for Special Olympics since the Bodensee Games in St. Gallen. His encounters with the athletes consistently impress him, whether at competitions, the anniversary run in St. Gallen, or the delegation camp for the World Games. Whenever possible, he takes time for autographs and selfies and talks with the athletes. He is particularly pleased that the next National Summer Games will take place in his hometown of St. Gallen.

Spending time with the Special Olympics athletes is a lot of fun. We can learn a lot from their enthusiasm, their fighting spirit, and their camaraderie. Every encounter brings back so much authenticity and joy. I am happy to advocate for people with intellectual disabilities to participate in social life and become a natural part of our lives.
