As an experienced personality from Swiss sports, Werner Augsburger brings valuable expertise to the foundation. He was a professional volleyball player himself at VBC Leysin and part of the Swiss national team. His professional career ideally combines sports and management: for example, he was Sales Manager at Rossignol, Technical Director and Chef de Mission at Swiss Olympic, Director of the Ice Hockey National League, Sports Director at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and most recently CEO of Swiss Volley. Currently, he is involved in various boards of directors, serves as a delegate for UNICEF Switzerland Liechtenstein, and manages selected mandates in moderation and consulting through his auXi GmbH.
He also heads the Sports Commission, a body of central importance for the strategic development of the sports sector at Special Olympics. A particular focus of his work will be on strengthening relations with Swiss Olympic and the national sports federations.
