The Athletics Meeting took place in Wohlen/AG on September 12, 2026.
In bright sunshine and ideal competition weather, just under 40 athletes took to the start line in Wohlen.
The programme included 50 m, 100 m, 1500 m, shot put, ball throw, long jump, the 4×100 m relay, and the premier event: the pentathlon. Five men and four women took on this challenge.
In the morning, the divisionings were up first. Our athletes were still a bit in “morning mode” and seemed a little sluggish at times. Maybe it was also because they were already really looking forward to lunch!
Then came the well-deserved lunch break—and it had plenty to offer! There was delicious curry poulet strips with pasta, vegetables and fruit. And of course, a tasty Knoppers for dessert was a must. That topped up everyone’s energy stores nicely, and well fuelled we headed into the afternoon programme.
In the afternoon finals, there was clearly much more energy and fighting spirit. With a great attitude, they battled for every metre, every second and every point.
Most athletes were very happy with their performances in the end. Of course, there were one or two disappointments too—after all, things can’t always go exactly as you’d like. But by the medal ceremony at the latest, you could see almost nothing but beaming faces. The atmosphere was relaxed, cheerful and simply positive all round.
It was a successful competition day with great performances, lots of commitment, fighting spirit and, of course, plenty of fun.
The only downside was that unfortunately only three delegations and one independent athlete took part. All the nicer that a delegation from Ticino even made the long journey to Wohlen. A heartfelt thank-you to all athletes for taking part. Great to have you with us!
