The Unified Handball Team of Special Olympics Switzerland achieved outstanding success at the National Summer Games Saarland 2026 of Special Olympics Germany. In their first official international appearance, the 14-member team won the gold medal in the Unified 2 category after an impressive improvement in performance.

After a challenging classification round, the team grew together from game to game and remained undefeated in the final round. With three wins in three games, the Swiss delegation surprisingly secured the tournament victory. In addition to the sporting achievements, team spirit, shared experiences, and exchange with athletes from other countries characterized the week in Saarland.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all athletes, Unified Partners, coaches, chaperones, and supporters who made this success possible.
