42 athletes, ten sports, and one major goal: the Special Olympics World Summer Games in October 2027 in Santiago de Chile! This weekend, Team Santiago 2027 gathers for its first delegation camp, beginning intensive preparations for an unforgettable adventure together.
The Swiss athletes will compete in Athletics, Basketball, Boccia, Cycling, Equestrian, Golf, Artistic Gymnastics, Swimming, Tennis, and Table Tennis. Artistic Gymnastics celebrates a special premiere: for the first time, Switzerland will be represented in this sport at the World Games.
The first step on a special journey
During the first delegation camp, athletes, coaches, and staff members get to know one another and grow together as a team. The program includes initial information about the World Games, organizational preparations, team photos, and filming. Measurements for the official delegation kit are also being taken.
The camp marks the start of intensive preparation. Participating in the world’s largest sporting and humanitarian event brings not only athletic challenges but also many new experiences: a foreign language, a different climate, time zone changes, a busy schedule, and countless new impressions.
Much more than peak athletic performance
The World Games offer athletes the chance to surpass their own limits, gain self-confidence, and discover new skills. When you experience others believing in your abilities and trusting you to achieve great things, you often realize for the first time what is truly possible.
Leading up to the World Games in October 2027, the athletes will receive individual support to prepare them both physically and mentally for their big moment.
