Special Olympics Switzerland (SOSWI) is committed, through the power of sport, to creating an inclusive world where people with intellectual disabilities can lead active, healthy, and fulfilling lives. For over 10 years, the foundation has been promoting inclusive sports programs within existing sports structures, such as clubs or popular sports events, as part of its Unified program. To ensure these inclusive sports programs are supported long-term and by strong partners, SOSWI aims to establish a widely accepted competence center for inclusion in Swiss sport. An external analysis will determine which organizational form is best suited for a potential spin-off. The Observatoire du Sport Populaire was commissioned to create a literature review on the topic of inclusion and sport, along with recommendations for the new organizational form.
