On October 25, 2025, the sports hall in Sarnen became the venue for a special basketball highlight: At the Special Olympics tournament as part of the Basketball Championship 2025/2026, the focus was on sporting passion, fair play, and team spirit. Eight teams from all parts of Switzerland fought hard for points – and provided many emotional moments on and off the field.
A special highlight was the H.O.R.S.E. challenge, in which Pascal Durrer and Tino Zumstein from the Obwalden team SC Hüetli, as well as other players from Geneva and Zurich, dueled with singer Jan «Seven» Dettwyler. This entertaining basketball game primarily requires skill and creativity when throwing. The players take turns trying to make a trick shot or from a special throwing position. If the throw is successful, the others must repeat the same attempt. Whoever misses receives a letter of the word H.O.R.S.E. – until one person has collected the complete word and thus loses.
With great energy, humor, and ambition, both Seven and the Special Olympics athletes were fully involved in these exciting duels. Seven was impressed by the sporting level and commitment of his teammates: «I wanted to fully focus on the strength and sporting performance of the Special Olympics athletes here. I am really impressed by the technical level of the players. It was an honor for me to support this great event and show with my presence that we celebrate their achievements.»
