Boccia is part of Special Olympics Switzerland. The sport is also offered as a Unified Sports® sport. Boccia is a ball game related to pétanque and is characterized by its accessibility and low barriers to entry, making it suitable for beginners.
Competition Format
- Depending on the tournament, singles, doubles, and team competitions, as well as Unified Doubles, are offered.
- Boccia is very popular in Switzerland, especially in Ticino.
- Boccia is played with plastic balls, which are significantly lighter than the metal balls of the related sport Pétanque.
